Apples require high levels of calcium to minimise storage disorders, especially bitter pit. A season long regular foliar application of calcium sprays, beginning and finishing with calcium 175™ has proven to be most effective. Calcium 175, a calcium chloride based product, should be the growers’ product of choice. However, some growers have a need for early nitrogen and additional micronutrients and in this case Encal should be used.
